Origin Country: China
Astragalus membranaceus, also known as Huang Qi or milkvetch, is a flowering plant in the legume family Fabaceae. It is one of the most important herbs in traditional Chinese medicine. The plant is native to Mongolia, the Korean Peninsula, and major regions of northern and north-eastern China. Featuring compound leaves and small, pale yellow flowers that bloom in clusters. It also has a sweet, slightly sour taste, like some exotic fruit, ending with a distinctly soapy sweet aftertaste.
Benefits

Heat 1 cup of water to just below boiling. Stir 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of astragalus powder into the hot water. Let it steep for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally to dissolve the powder. Strain if necessary to remove any undissolved powder, though it tends to dissolve well in hot water. Add optional sweeteners or flavourings like honey, ginger, or lemon. Enjoy 1-2 cups per day for immune support.
– Incorporate into Food
Add 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of astragalus powder to your soups, stews, or broths. Stir it into oatmeal, porridge, or granola. Mix it into baked goods (e.g., muffins or energy bars) for added benefits. Blend it into sauces, gravies, or salad dressings for an immune boost without altering the flavour too much.
– Dosage:
The general recommended dose of astragalus powder is 1/2 to 1 teaspoon per day, but it can vary depending on individual needs and health conditions. You can start with a smaller amount (e.g., 1/4 teaspoon) and gradually increase if you tolerate it well.
