Description

Latin Name: Acacia Senegal L.

Common Names: Acacia Gum

Origin Country: Sudan

Acacia Senegal L. is a species of tree belonging to the Fabaceae family, commonly found in the tropical and subtropical regions of Africa, the Middle East, and parts of Asia. Known for its gum-producing properties, it is best known for yielding Arabic gum (also called Acacia gum), which is a natural gum derived from the sap of the tree. Arabic gum is a complex mixture of glycoproteins and polysaccharides. Its assigned number is E414. It is mainly used in the food industry as a stabilizer and it has a mild, slightly sweet taste with a hint of bitterness. It is also used as thickening agent, especially in products like soft drinks, candy, and cosmetics.

– Arabic Gum Infusion

Heat 1 cup of water to a warm temperature, not boiling. Add 1-2 teaspoons of Arabic Gum Powder to the warm water. Stir well for a few minutes to ensure that the powder is fully dissolved. It might take a little time, as Arabic gum can form a gel-like consistency when it hydrates. If you would like to enhance the flavour, you can add a teaspoon of honey for sweetness. Let the mixture sit for 5-10 minutes, allowing the Arabic gum to fully hydrate. Stir the mixture once more before drinking.

– Skin Care

In a small bowl, combine 1 teaspoon of Arabic gum powder with 1 tablespoon of water. Stir gently until it forms a smooth gel-like consistency. Let it sit for a few minutes to fully hydrate.  Using clean fingers or a brush, apply the mask evenly to your face and neck, avoiding the eyes and mouth area. Leave the mask on for 10–15 minutes. You will feel a gentle tightening effect as it dries. Gently rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry with a soft towel.

You can use it 1–2 times per week for best results.

Storage: Store Arabic Gum Powder in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. Keep it sealed in its original packaging or an airtight container to maintain freshness and prevent clumping or contamination. Proper storage will help preserve its solubility and functional properties.
