Gelatin is a protein product derived from collagen.

Sheet Gelatin, also called Leaf Gelatin, works like granular gelatin found in your local grocery store, but in a different form. Rather than a powder, it is takes the shape of thin sheets or leaves of gelatin film. The sheets dissolve more slowly than the granulated form, but also produce a clearer gelled product.

Gelatin is a product made by cooking collagen. It is made almost entirely of protein, and its unique amino acid profile gives it many health benefits.

Collagen is the most plentiful protein found in humans and animals. It is found almost everywhere in the body, but is most abundant in the skin, bones, tendons and ligaments.

It provides strength and structure for tissues. For example, collagen increases the flexibility of the skin and the strength of the tendons. However, it is difficult to eat collagen because it is generally found in unpalatable parts of animals

1 sheet of gelatine will set around 100ml liquid to a soft setting. 1)Place the required amount of gelatine leaves in a shallow dish or tray with a flat bottom 2)Cover completely with cold water ensuring that leaves do not stick together 3)Soak for 4-6 minutes until the leaves have softened completely; the more leaves, the longer they will take to soften 4)Remove the leaves from the water and squeeze out any excess moisture 5)Add the leaves to the liquid that is to be set, making sure that it is over 35°C 6)Once the gelatin has dissolved transfer the mixture to your desired container and leave to set in the fridge
Gelatin is likely safe for most people in food amounts and possibly safe in the larger amounts used as medicine. There's some evidence that gelatin in doses up to 10 grams daily can be safely used for up to 6 months. Gelatin can cause an unpleasant taste, sensation of heaviness in the stomach, bloating, heartburn, and belching. Gelatin can cause allergic reactions in some people.
