Red Pepper Flakes  is the Balkan version of paprika, but comes exclusively from a mix of peppers from the Capsicum Annum family. If your crushed red pepper is hot enough, you can use it to make a decent hot sauce. Simply combine with vinegar and your preferred seasonings and cook it or let it sit for a few days then grind in a food processor or blender for a smooth texture. Red Pepper Flakes is used in sauerkraut, tripe, soups, boiled and grilled. It goes well with bean soup, it is also added to yellow cheeses and cold cuts for a more spicy taste. Combines well with oregano, marjoram, basil, parsley, garlic and pepper.
Do not touch your eyes and face if you have used Red Pepper Flakes because you will feel burning. If you do, rinse with vinegar or wine. Avoid Red Pepper Flakes if you have open sores in the area of the pharynx, esophagus or gastrointestinal tract due to its caustic action.
