White willow is the original or natural Aspirin, and has nearly the same indications as its synthetic counterpart. Where these two compounds differ though, is that white willow tends to be milder on the stomach lining than synthetic Aspirin and has a reduced anticoagulant action.

Pain Relief: Due to its rich blend of antioxidants and organic compounds, willow bark functions as a very successful analgesic.

Anti-Inflammatory: Inflammation takes on many different forms within our body. If you are looking to eliminate the inflammation in your respiratory tracts, gastrointestinal system, or joints, then willow bark can quickly soothe your symptoms.

Settle the Stomach: The high content of tannins can help soothe the stomach and prevent gastrointestinal distress during other illnesses or periods of a weakened immune system.

Migraines: It can help eliminate migraines by lowering the blood pressure in the small capillaries and blood vessels in the head, easing pressure and relieving those painful, debilitating symptoms. It can also be used as a preventative method for regular headaches.

To make an infusion, three to six grams of dried root per 250ml into a ceramic teapot, mug or mason jar for each cup of tea you intend to brew. Cover with boiling water. Place on the lid (or cover your cup with a saucer) and let steep for 10-15 minutes or overnight

Willow bark is POSSIBLY SAFE for most people when taken by mouth for a short time (up to 12 weeks). Do not take by people with ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, kidney disease or liver disease. Do not combine with aspirin or anticoagulants. In any case you should consult with your healthcare doctor before using any herb especially if you’re taking other medications or having health problems.
