Description

Latin Name: Ilex Paraguariensis

Origin Country: European Union

Yerba Mate Orange Flavoured Leaves are made from the dried and often slightly roasted leaves of Ilex paraguariensis, a plant native to South America, particularly Paraguay, Argentina, Uruguay, and southern Brazil. Yerba mate has a long-standing tradition as a social and energizing drink, often consumed from a gourd with a metal straw.
In this variety, the traditional earthy and herbal profile of yerba mate is infused with natural orange flavor, either through dried citrus peels or natural flavoring. This adds a bright, zesty citrus note that complements the grassy, slightly bitter taste of the yerba mate base, creating a more refreshing and aromatic infusion.

Making yerba maté from loose tea leaves may lead to a fresher tasting tea. It also offers more control over the strength of the tea. Start with a tablespoon of yerba maté per cup of hot water, then adjust to taste.

1. Moisten yerba mate with cool water before brewing.

2. Use hot but not boiling water – 170F is ideal.

3. Steep for five minutes.

Yerba Mate seems to be safe for most people when used properly. Νevertheless it contains caffeine, which can cause some side effects such as inability to sleep (insomnia), nervousness and restlessness, stomach upset, nausea and vomiting, increased heart rate and breathing, high blood pressure, headache.

In any case you should consult with your healthcare doctor before using any herb especially if you’re taking other medications or having health problems.
