Alkanet Root also known as ”Ratanjot” is a spice found in Indian foods- to add flavor – and used as a natural food color. Alkanet roots have medicinal properties and are used to cure wounds, fever, and diseases while alkanet oil is popularly used as hair oil.

Alkanna root is generally considered safe to use short-term, but possible side effects include liver failure, cirrhosis, pneumonitis, pulmonary hypertension, or heart failure. Women who are breast-feeding or pregnant are forbidden to consume the root.
