Piscidia erythrina, commonly known as Jamaica dogwood, is a flowering tree native to the Caribbean and parts of Central and South America. It belongs to the Fabaceae (Legume) family. Dogwood is a medium-sized deciduous tree known for its striking white bark with black markings, slender branches, and triangular leaves with serrated edges. It has a long history of use in traditional medicine. The plant has a slightly bitter, astringent flavour and typically prepared as a decoction, only for medicinal purposes and with caution.

Boil 1-3 teaspoons of dried Jamaica Dogwood bark in 1 cup of water. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the compounds to infuse into the water. Strain the tea to remove the bark pieces. Add honey or lemon for flavour, if desired.
Tip
Drink 1/2 cup (120 ml) of decoction per serving. If needed use it up to 1-2 times per day, but not for more than 3 consecutive days
