Although cumin is generally considered safe to use medicinally, consuming more than the recommended dosage may cause heartburn, or even kidney or liver damage. Cumin may lower blood sugar levels in some, so diabetics should be aware of their intake. Avoid use if undergoing surgery, as it may also affect the blood sugar levels.
