Latin Name: Tilia Cordata
Origin Country: Bulgaria
Tilia cordata, commonly known as small-leaved lime, littleleaf linden, or lime tree, is a deciduous tree in the Malvaceae family, native to Europe and western Asia. It is commonly found in woodlands and along roadsides, thriving in temperate climates with moist, well-drained soil. The leaves are heart-shaped, finely serrated, and about 3–8 cm long, with a distinctive lopsided base. In summer, it produces clusters of pale yellow, fragrant flowers that are rich in nectar and highly attractive to bees. Tilia cordata is known for its pleasant honey-like floral scent and is often used in landscaping and urban planting due to its shade and resilience. The dried flowers are commonly used to make herbal infusions or teas with a mildly sweet and floral flavour.
To make an infusion, place 1-2 teaspoons of dried herb in a tea infuser or teapot or mug for each cup of tea you intend to brew. Cover with boiling water. Place on the lid (or cover your cup with a saucer).
Allow the mixture to steep for 10 ‘to 15’ minutes or overnight.
Then strain the tea and serve. Drink 1-3 cups of tea a day
Add if you want honey, milk or lemon wedge for flavour.
