Origin Country: Russian Federation

Arctostaphylos uva-ursi is a plant species of the genus Arctostaphylos has anti-inflammatory, astringent, diuretic and anti-microbial activity, with special affinity for the digestive and urinary tract infections such as cystitis, urethritis and nephritis, pyelitis and in pyelonephritis.

  • Kidney and bladder diseases:  Uva Ursi may be of great value in diseases of the bladder and kidneys, strengthening and imparting tone to the urinary passages. The diuretic action is due to the glucoside Arbutin, which is largely absorbed unchanged and is excreted by the kidneys. During its excretion, Arbutin exercises an antiseptic effect on the urinary mucous membrane. Therefore, it is used in inflammatory diseases of the urinary tract, urethritis, cystisis, nephritis.
  • Weight loss: The herb neutralizes acidity in the urine, increasing urine flow, therefore reducing bloating and water retention, making it beneficial for weight loss.

To make an infusion, place one tablespoon of dried herbs into a ceramic teapot, mug or mason jar for each cup of tea you intend to brew. Cover with boiling water. Place on the lid (or cover your cup with a saucer) and let steep for 10-15 minutes or overnight.
