Salep is made from the tubers of several types of orchid that grow in the Middle East, Turkey, Greece and India. It’s used more for its starchy, thickening qualities, than it is for its mild taste.

This herb is known to be beneficial for treating impotence in men. The extract obtained from this flower has been known to successfully treat erectile dysfunction and hence can be used for boosting the sex life of men.

Salep can be helpful in treating a variety of skin conditions and can effectively cure issue such as rashes and acne.

It also, contains certain expectorant properties and hence can be utilised for treatment of issue such as cough and cold.

Salep, also, acts as a tonic and hence can relieve issue such as neural pain by unwinding the nerves and reducing any stress on them.

Decoction: In a pot, bring 3 cups of cold water, 3-4 teaspoons of salep root to a simmer. Gently decoct (simmer) for 30 minutes. Strain out herbs and return liquid to pot. . Drink 1-3 cups of tea a day. Salep is served hot after adding honey to taste and ginger sprinkles on the top. The same recipe could be adapted to include milk.
