Mate, or Yerba mate, also known as Jesuit tea, is a traditional Latin American beverage. Stimulating drink contains a moderate amount of caffeine. It hat’s been said to offer the “strength of coffee, the health benefits of tea, and the euphoria of chocolate” all in one beverage.

Yerba mate is a nutritional powerhouse loaded with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants: vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamins B1, B2, B3, and B5, vitamin E, calcium, Iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, sodium, sulfur,zinc.

1. Moisten yerba mate with cool water before brewing.

2. Use hot but not boiling water – 170F is ideal.

3. Steep for five minutes.

Yerba Mate seems to be safe for most people when used properly. Νevertheless it contains caffeine, which can cause some side effects such as inability to sleep (insomnia), nervousness and restlessness, stomach upset, nausea and vomiting, increased heart rate and breathing, high blood pressure, headache.
